C3 Teachers is an organization that encourages collaboration between teachers that use the "College, Career, and Civic Life (C3)" framework in a socials studies classroom. The C3 framework encourages students to engage in the subject matter by questioning, applying tools and concepts, evaluating sources and evidence, and communicating conclusions to take informed action.
C3 Teachers has a large collection of pre-written inquiries that are searchable by tier, hub, topic, or grade level. The list of filters is very long with many small (1 or 2 item) categories.
Inquiries are holistic lessons based around a series of questions.
In the "1960s and Revolution" inquiry we are given the initial question of "Did the movements of the 1960s create a revolution?" That question is followed by additional questions that encourage students to recognize different definitions of the world revolution in addition to the academic definition.
The initial question is then broken down into multiple supporting questions with additional tasks to relate back to the initial question.
Most inquiries also include a downloadable PDF or DOC file that can be used by the teacher without requiring continuous access to the website.
